The
Search for the Perfect Guitar
With each new piece of equipment, and
with each completed guitar, I get closer to the ultimate goal of the
"perfect guitar". (Luthier's say the "perfect guitar"
doesn't exist, but it doesn't hurt to have a worthy goal!)
As to the instruments themselves, one
of my favorite guitars was always the D-28 Dreadnaught made by the C.F.
Martin Company. I do confess to being partial to that shape and sound because I played those
instruments for many years!
And one of the most satisfying
feelings I've ever had was hearing the first Dreadnaught I ever built played
by an outstanding Gospel artist friend of mine. Hearing that sound confirmed
my conviction that this was a path well-chosen for me.
Well, they used to say "a picture
is worth a 1000 words!" back when I was a boy growing up in the rural
town of Glenarm, IL. I think that's still true, and I think the pictures here
represent a pretty good idea of what I do and what the Gentry Guitar is all
about!
God bless, and thank you for stopping
by!
